Rick Sadowski: Avs use 10th pick on Jost

HOT TAKES!!!!!!

Jost wasn't on my radar since I always figured Roy and Sakic would go with Size in Brown, but this is a great pick.

Avs have been dangerous when they play with Speed, thats when they have been playoff teams. Jost fits that need and I like the pick since he has a lot of solid pieces to his game.

Brown was tempting based on his size but hes skating was lacking. I like the pick the more I think about it since I was Avs didn't have ea shot at sergachev, I thought we were going Brown 10 times out of 10.

I was surprised MTL went for Sergachev instead of a big forward like Brown. Avs came really close to get the great Dman. But I am happy about getting Jost.

I get to watch his kid play all next year with Brock boeser. You got a great player and a future leader. Gonna be epic. Great pick.

Watched Jost for two yrs now in the BCHL. He controls a hockey game. Even though this isnt the Whl, theres a tonne of tallent in this league. Great league for players that want to play NCAA. Jost is the best of the best in this league and could have easily been a star in the whl. Although he lost to my team this yr the West Kelowna Warriors who eventually won the RBC cup, he is definately worthy of a chance to star in the NHL.

Love the pick.I think if Sergachev was there we would of taken him. But I'm excited for this guy. In a year or two he will come in and compete! Solid pick 10, now on to pick 40!

Like coga I had brown ahead of jost because of size and he plays in the chl. I had jost kind of tied with McLeod for size and speed. But I'm excited for this guy. Couple things he has said really makes this pick, for me, the reason we went him over what was there. 1) leadership. 2) work ethic 3)he wants to win, the Stanley Cup attitude. That is what I think separated him from some others. Intersting that lots of panel guys and scout's have him pegged as future capitian material and comparing him to jonathan toews. Probably 1 to 2 years away from the the big club but he's going to a championship winning team, to learn and grow more. Great pick Mr Sakic! Looking forward to this kid on a line with mack or dutchy in the future!

I am not disapointed at all that Habs drafted Sergachev, but if they had not gone with a D-man, Jost is definatly the forward with the most potential at that point.
Would not be surprised if 3 years from now people look back and wonder how he fell to 10th.
As for Brown, yes everyone likes the frame but given his size and the emphasis on speed nowadays, i feel his ceeling would be a 2nd line center where Jost has the potential to be a 1st line player.

Think maybe Sakic saw himself in Jost?

2 picks... 2 ncaa bound players... guess Denver post was wrong about avs not likingcollege players...

Don't know much about Cameron Morrison but he's being compared to kyle Connor who last year tore up the ncaa with jc comp her. Seem like another solid pick! Keep it going Sakic!

Absolutely! Would have taken him for almost anything. Allows some of the young guns to really step in this season and frees up a little cap. Nice trade

haha I woke up this afternoon from working nightshift last night and looked at my phone and saw the trade and that was just about my reaction! I love it!! Miracles do happen after all! lol
